Battles in Nagorno Karabakh! Azerbaijan deals “devastating blows to the enemy”

There has been another outbreak of violence between Azerbaijan and Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh. The two sides reported military and civilian casualties in heavy fighting and blamed each other for being the first to strike.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev promised victory over Armenia amid heavy fighting in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, TASS reported. “The Azerbaijani army is fighting today on its territory, defending its territorial integrity, inflicting devastating blows on the enemy. Our cause is just and we will win,” the Azerbaijani president said in a televised speech.

Aliyev accused Armenia of launching bombardments on Azerbaijani settlements this morning, causing civilian and military casualties. The fighting continues, both sides said, each claiming dominance. The Armenian Defense Ministry, which supports the region that has separated from Azerbaijan, announced that two helicopters and three drones were shot down in Azerbaijan.

Turkey strongly condemned “Armenia’s attack on Azerbaijan” and expressed its support for Baku in its conflict with Yerevan. This was stated by Ibrahim Cullen, spokesman for President Erdogan. Armenia is playing with fire and threatening regional peace, Cullen said. The Russian Foreign Ministry has called on the parties to the conflict to immediately cease fire and begin talks. Nagorno-Karabakh, an Azerbaijani separatist region dominated by Armenians, regularly becomes a scene of outbreaks of violence.
