“The condition of the man who was pronounced dead in Sliven remains grave.” This was announced by Dr. Julia Biankova, head of the intensive care unit at the district hospital where the patient was housed.
The case in which a 72-year-old man was pronounced dead, issued a death certificate, and was accepted by a funeral agency dates back to October 13. The funeral agency found signs of life on him and alerted “Emergency.”
According to Dr. Biankova, the man is in a coma, but is already reacting to volitional stimuli, trying to open his eyes. He is very weak, with severe hypoglycemia, he has not eaten for a long time. The day before the incident, he had to be admitted to the gastroenterology department of the Sliven Military Hospital.
The arrival of their relatives from abroad is expected. Sliven District Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman Vanya Beleva said the prosecution had been notified of pre-trial procedures, as is the practice when a deceased person is found.
In such cases, the procedure is governed by art. 115, for murder. In this case, even if the person is not dead, the inspection will continue during the process already started. The facts have not yet been clarified, the fire, police and ambulance teams were at the scene.
According to prosecutor Beleva, who said she had never had such a case in her practice, it was probably a breach of duty and an error by the medical team.
