Kindergartens open after the New Year. Nursery schools will also be open, as well as schools for children from first to fourth grade.
There are two reasons for nursery school children and students in grades 1-4 to return to classroom education. One is that learning in an electronic environment is more difficult for the little ones and it is not healthy for them to spend a lot of time in front of a computer.

The second reason is that scientific articles show that young children are less likely to become infected. However, if parents do not want their children to return to class, they will be able to apply, the training will be electronic. The remaining students in grades 5-12 will continue to study electronically, until it becomes clear after the New Year.
Mirela Lazarova is the mother of two children. One is in a preschool group and the largest is in third grade. Parents gladly accept the news that the children will be learning in person again, because they both work.
“You can’t physically do it on a laptop. I walk into the room and see him squat 50 times,” says Mirella.
Parents who fear infection can keep their children at home by applying for e-learning.
“We currently have more than 1,000 applications of this type. For kindergartens, through the National Association of Municipalities, I will invite mayors to apply for such permits. If parents want to have their children at home, they can do so”, Minister Krassimir Valchev said.
At school 51 they already have experience leading a combined class. While some are in the classroom, their peers participate online.
State purchases 1 million rapid antigen tests
“There is no way to get the same results in distance learning, but compared to not learning at all, it is much better,” said Asen Alexandrov, director of 51 Sofia University “Elisaveta Bagryan”.
There is also the fear of contagion among teachers. Therefore, additional measures will be taken.
“Ventilation will be more difficult because it is cold. If necessary, they will study 5 minutes less, but it will ventilate regularly,” says Aleksadrov.
“Students in grades 1-4 will probably say not to do activities of interest at this time, so there is no mixing of people from different classes. They can be postponed. You know, we increased the school year for them by two weeks,” he adds Valchev.
Each school may individually move to online education if incidence increases in the region. E-learning will be the only option for students in grades 5-12 and for students at least until the end of the year.
“It does not mean that they will be trained electronically at the end of January. Perhaps we will start with the most important activities, where it is inefficient to do them in an electronic environment. They are practical, individual exams,” added the minister.
Vaccination against COVID-19 in the EU will start before the New Year
Parents of children who must study remotely will be able to apply for specific assistance from the state next year.
“They will receive a minimum wage for a whole month,” said Denitsa Sacheva, Minister of Labor and Social Policy.
So far, the state has paid 20 million BGN to parents who had to hire babysitters.
