One of the biggest critics of the measures wanted himself to lead the fight against the infection.

The COVID ward of the Sofia Infectious Diseases Hospital already has a new boss. I am Assistant Professor Atanas Mangarov. Since the beginning of the pandemic, he has been one of the biggest critics of the use of masks and restrictive measures. Now he himself has expressed his desire to join the doctors on the front line.

The news was announced by the Minister of Health, Kostadin Angelov, who verified the organization of work in the COVID room, where the emergency coordination center is located. During their meeting, the Minister of Health and the new head of the COVID ward at the Hospital for Infectious Diseases differed in their views on how to treat patients.

Mangarov: coronavirus begins shedding 4-5 days before onset of clinical symptoms

“Yesterday I had a conversation with Associate Professor Mangarov and personally asked him to be actively involved in the fight against the coronavirus. He made this commitment and has been ordered from yesterday to be the head of the clinic where all coronavirus patients are treated at this hospital. My only requirement is to observe the strict anti-epidemic measures and the use of protective equipment, ”said Prof. Dr. Kostadin Angelov, Minister of Health.

“I asked for it myself, because I think things should change a bit in terms of treatment and permanence. It’s just that things can be done in a much simpler and easier way. All these veiled measures are largely meaningless. I will follow all the rules that are imposed there, but I will try to change them little by little from the inside, “said Associate Prof. Atanas Mangarov.
