Associate Prof. Chorbanov: There will be a vaccine against COVID-19 by the end of the year – Diseases

Forecasts for a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the year or in the spring are unrealistic. This was said in the program “This Saturday” on BTV by Associate Prof. Andrey Chorbanov from the Department of Immunology of the Institute of Microbiology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

“There will be a vaccine in a lab by the end of the year, that’s for sure, but it won’t be on the market, except in countries that are outside the strict regulations. The normal vaccine testing procedure is long enough to last until next time. the autumn was harmless, “said the immunologist.

The price of the PCR test is not expected to be cheaper in Bulgaria. Since the beginning of the pandemic, people who voluntarily examine themselves pay around BGN 100.

In different countries in Europe the price of the tests is different, but rarely lower than in our country. In Turkey it is the only one below BGN 60.

“Turkey has its own production of consumables and it is outside the EU regulation. We handle consumables that are imported,” said Dr. Blagovesta Pencheva, medical director of a private laboratory.

According to Adjunct Professor Chobanov, the problem is that in our country the state or the treasury does not take over the investigation in all cases.. “The laboratories are private companies and they can fix the prices they want. However, this must be agreed between them and the state or the fund,” said the immunologist.
