Arsenal closely follows the development of “sensation” at CSKA Bulgarian Valentin Antov, writes thehardtackle.com. According to Calcomercato, the Gunners will enter a transfer duel with Roma for the 20-year-old defender in January.
CSKA manager Alan Pardew’s relationships with English clubs give Arsenal some advantage, but the ‘wolves’ also have their assets. Roma are about to lose their central defender Roger Ibanes, much coveted by Liverpool. It was in Antov that the Romans saw him as a suitable replacement.
Arsenal also want to get stronger through the winter transfer window. The Gunners are expected to part ways with seasoned defenders like Shkodran Mustafi and Socrates, while David Lewis is not getting any younger. The manager Mikael Arteta has Gabriel Magallas, Rob Holding, Pablo Marie and the young Frenchman William Saliba. The latter is linked to a return to League 1 and this is related to the interest in Antov. It is very likely that Arsenal will continue to monitor the Bulgarian team and attract them in the summer.
