The Sliven District Court has ordered a permanent arrest warrant against Georgi Kostadinov, 39, who two days ago collided with a police car on the road between the villages of Radevo and Sokol in Novozagorsk, killing a police officer from Nova Zagora.
He is accused of causing the death of a police officer while intoxicated and recklessly, the Bulgarian National Radio reported.
The investigation established that Georgi Kostadinov struck the police car, although it was with the lights on and in a special operating mode. In the accident, the injured police officer was near the struck car and was working on another traffic accident. As a result of the coup, the policeman was taken to Sliven hospital with serious injuries, where he died.
The driver’s alcohol test with a pharmacist reported 0.68 per thousand.
The official defender of the 39-year-old driver from Stara Zagora, attorney Elena Dimitrova, said her client regretted the tragic incident.
“First I want to express my condolences on my behalf and on behalf of my client to the family of the deceased child. My client is sorry. At this time I cannot comment further, as the investigation is in its early stages,” said attorney Dimitrova .
The judgment of the District Court – Sliven can be appealed to the Court of Appeal – Burgas.
