It took SSC North America almost 10 years to turn the Tuatara concept into a production model, but the project was completed and the first of the 100 cars that were manufactured was featured three months ago at a show in Philadelphia. Now the manufacturer demonstrates the dynamics of the machine in a short but quite effective video.
Obviously, the photos were taken in a closed area around the road, allowing us to appreciate the sound of the 5.9-liter V8 engine. With regular gasoline, the engine develops 1350 hp, and when it uses a mixture of E85, with 400 hp. plus. Torque is transmitted to the rear axle through a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Unfortunately, Jerod Shelby’s company does not specify what speed Tuatara has reached on this you, but it was previously reported that the hypercar can cross the 300 mile per hour (483 km / h) limit.
It is clear that SSC North America will try to match the world speed record for production cars set by the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ – 304,773 or per hour (490,484 km / h). The American studio Hennessey with its Venom F5 is also striving for this, as well as the Koenigsegg Swedes, who have prepared a new hypercar: Jesko Absolut. Hennessey announced that her car will exceed 500 km / h, while Koenigsegg set a top speed of 532 km / h.
For now, the dynamic characteristics of the SSC Tuatara remain a mystery, but for some prices the exotic coupe weighs 1,247g. It will cost between 1.6 and 1.9 million dollars, depending on the team.
