After being vaccinated in front of journalists, Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov was asked why the vaccines were transported by bus from the sausage company “Leki”:
“I saw what was happening on social media. For me, the search for an emphasis in this direction is not acceptable, because Bulgaria is not the only country where transport is carried out with private logistics companies,” he said, giving examples of his statement:
“In the United States, a private company specializing in food transportation, especially tuna transportation, is helping the government. In Kanata, a private logistics company that transports ice cream is helping with vaccines,” he said.
“I hope that the extended hand of other Bulgarian manufacturers will help to implement the necessary logistics in the future so that we can be successful in the fight against the K-19,” Angelov said.
“In the contract we have with the supplier company, the vaccine had to come with their logistics trucks. The exception is this first delivery, which is symbolic, which came with a single truck and at one point ”, he added.
“We promised that the vaccine would reach all RHIs in the country, we had to quickly create the logistics for this to happen. We turned to logistics companies for help and yesterday this company wanted to help, ”he said.
“It ensures a normal temperature regime to be monitored at all times. There is a thermograph on the buses. However, this vaccination regimen was not necessary because the vaccines were in bags of dry ice, which provided the necessary transport temperature. the vaccines are placed in refrigerators with a normal temperature of 2 to 8 degrees, “Angelov said.
“-70 degree coolers will be used in subsequent deliveries,” said the Health Minister.
“I don’t think it is the packaging that matters, it is the content. It was extremely important for us to fulfill our promise to provide a vaccine to all RHIs in the country. I consider humor inappropriate in this situation, it is a global pandemic, it is a crisis and any help is useful, ”he said.
According to him, it is not necessary to do a rapid test before the vaccine. “A clinical examination is performed and the doctor administering the immunization assesses whether the patient is fit for it,” Angelov said.
