The Vratsa District Court today sentenced a total of 18 years in prison under the strict initial regime of the defendant Axel Olekov. The case was abbreviated. This is the maximum sentence the law allows for a juvenile delinquent.

He was found guilty of deliberately killing 18-year-old Andrea Rumenova in the village of Galiche in Vratsa in January this year. The murder was committed in a particularly tortuous way for the girl and with special cruelty and in order to cover up the previous rape. For this crime, the court sentenced him to the most severe punishment: 12 years in prison.

Olekov was also found guilty of rape, for which he was sentenced to 3 years in prison. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison for breaking into a foreign home.

The panel chaired by Judge Lidia Krumova also found him guilty of confiscating real estate and other people’s money totaling BGN 280, for which he received 2 years in prison. The defendant was sentenced to one of the most severe penalties: 12 years in prison under a strict initial regime, which increased by 6 years behind bars.

Thus, the total sentence that Axel Olekov, who served 18 years a week ago, will have to serve is 18 years in prison. The court also ruled that it paid 200,000 BGN in compensation for the moral damage caused to the father of the murdered girl, Asen Rumenov.
