SINCE Internal Security Agents of the Ministry of the Interior arrested a 50-year-old investigating police officer with the initials LL of the DO of the Ministry of the Interior – Varna at the time of receiving the amount of BGN 2,000, announced in a briefing today the Prosecutor District of Varna Krassimir Konov.
He specified that in view of the evidence collected so far, it can be concluded that this money is part of the requested amount of BGN 10,000, and during the period from December last year to December 2020, BGN 5,000 were received. The money was requested by the police officer to conduct an investigation in favor of bribery and terminate the criminal proceeding for money laundering against him. The money laundering process has not ended, explained the prosecutor.
Konov added that the evidence so far shows that the police officer acted alone. He has been charged with two crimes. One is a bribery committed by an investigating police officer through extortion and use of an official position, and the other is for fraud.
The director of “Internal Security” of the Ministry of the Interior, Senior Commissioner Stefan Bankov, commented that so far the employee has not had any crime. The policeman has more than 20 years of experience. It has been observed for more than a year.
