Grigor Dimitrov will not be participating in this year’s Sofia Open. This was announced minutes ago by the tournament organizers in a post on Facebook, since the information is official and came from the headquarters of our first rocket.

On the eve of the tournament, the organizers of the Sofia Open 2020 were informed by Grigor Dimitrov’s team that due to an injury he will not be able to take advantage of the “wild card” reserved for him to participate in the home tournament. We express our regret for the absence of the best Bulgarian tennis player and wish him a speedy recovery ”, reads the statement from the tournament organizers in the capital.

Grigor Dimitrov suffered an ankle injury during his semi-final match against Dan Evans at the Vienna tournament last week. It was due to this injury that the world №18 refused to participate in the Masters tournament currently being held in Paris. The native fans were hoping that a few days off would help get our first racket back for the Sofia tournament, but sadly this will not happen.

Dimitrov’s last appearance at the Sofia Open was in 2017, when he won the title after defeating David Goffen in the final.
