Alexander Yordanov MEP called the protesters

The MEP of the GERB-UDF coalition, Alexander Yordanov, described the protesters as “simpletons” and “lumpens”, who have been demanding the resignations of the government and Attorney General Ivan Geshev for more than three months.

“Everything is normal in Bulgaria! And 100-200 people are protesting, protesting. This is normal. We saw them last night in front of Bulgarian National Television. They were absolute fools, not protesters. And things should be called real names. These are lumpens“Yordanov said, quoted by BNR.

He described the critical European Parliament resolution as “slander”.

“The opinion of politicians is always party-specific. The politician serves his party first, not the state or anything else. Don’t be fooled in this regard. Why else do you enter parties?”Yordanov told MEPs.

The UDF held a National Council in Ruse. After him it was clear that the party “will seek ideological unification with the parties of the EPP” and talks are already being held with GERB to join the next elections. This is not a surprise, because last year in both the European elections and the local vote, the UDF was in coalition with the party of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

“There are four main points in which the UDF will look for partners in the next ordinary elections. These are the membership of our country to NATO and the European Union and the adoption of the euro, the continuation of European and Atlantic integration, the increase of citizens’ income through accelerated economic growth and reforms in strategic sectors – health, justice and education “said UDF leader Rumen Hristov.
