GERB has resigned twice. Once we have been able to take this step, I think it is always a controversial option. Prime Minister Boyko Borissov himself has said so many times.
This was commented by deputy Alexander Nenkov to OFFNews when leaving the National Assembly after the end of today’s session. When asked if GERB was considering resigning, he added:
There are people who think that quitting is not acceptable, because it will spiral us into a bigger crisis. “100,000 may not approve the government, but some people cannot act as spokespersons. This will be decided in the parliamentary elections,” Nenkov explained.
If this is the way to overthrow and take power, I don’t want to live in this country, he added.
It is a pity that there are extreme confrontations. What is happening to people who think differently from those in the protest? Asked the GERB deputy.
The elections are approaching and this is the only sensible and democratic way out of the crisis, to make this transition. There is clearly political tension and this opposition will obviously continue. But in the end we live in the 21st century, a civilized country, not like that, with provocation and violence. I’m very interested in what will happen if these people enter parliament: will they kill us or will they bury us in coffins? We all have friends, families who care. I do not agree to go to such extremes, Nenkov added.
I have acquaintances at the protest and I have never tried to change my mind, on the contrary, this is the civilized part of things, but I hope that most people will not allow the state to collapse in this way, because it would be a shameful day. for democracy, whether we like it or not, explained the deputy.
What do fair elections mean? Were they like this when Rumen Radev was elected? Asked Nenkov.
