Following an investigation by NOVA, the Varna District Attorney’s Office instituted pre-trial procedures for misappropriation of subsidies to the parties.

The pre-trial proceedings are for embezzlement of funds in especially large amounts, which is a particularly serious case, according to the city attorney’s office. The investigation must establish whether an official of the governing bodies of the Vazrazhdane party misappropriated a party grant in the amount of BGN 1 million, delivered to him as state funds earmarked for the operation of the party.
