More than a hundred aftershocks were felt in Croatia after yesterday’s earthquake. According to the latest data, more than 20 people were injured. The dead are 7. Among the victims are a 12-year-old girl and six men. The search for survivors continues under the rubble of buildings. No Bulgarians were injured. Two EU commissioners are expected to visit Zagreb today, after the country requested help from the EU yesterday.
The night was difficult, difficult and long for the people of Croatia, who searched for survivors under the ruins of the Petrinja buildings until late. “Electricity has been restored, communications have been restored. It is also good news that through the Croatian-Bulgarian Friendship Society we were able to identify a Bulgarian living in Sisak. Contact has been established with him, okay. No he was injured and his house is in relatively good condition, “said Bulgarian Ambassador to Croatia Genka Georgieva.

There was panic until communications were restored, he said: “The feeling was shaking horizontally, not vertically. There is a difference, so I say my desk was moving. It was not shaking, it was moving.”
70 percent of the buildings in Petrinja have been destroyed, according to initial data. The population of the city exceeds 70 thousand people, who are still looking for a place to stay.
“People spent the night in tents, in barracks, in other settlements. The situation is alarming, but at the same time there is a display of great spirit and solidarity, “said Ognian Zlatev, EC ambassador in Zagreb.
EARTHQUAKE: A woman gave birth to a healthy baby in Sisak
Already yesterday, Croatia requested help from the European Union. Two EU commissioners will arrive at the scene today to inspect the damage at the site.
“The greatest need is for people to go home, to have a place to take refuge, because in Petrinja, in Sisak and its surroundings, most of the buildings are unusable. So, on the one hand, the state has provided the necessary premises. On the other hand, today we expect the first shipment with containers suitable for living, ”said Zlatev.
The amount of material damage has not yet been calculated. Among the volunteers cleaning up the rubble are even supporters of the Dinamo-Zagreb football team. And because of the large number of people willing to get involved, authorities have asked them to turn to the Red Cross, which coordinates rescue operations.
