On May 6, it was decided in Germany that the restrictions imposed by the new coronavirus would be eased. The condition: the number of new infections per week should not exceed 50 per 100,000 inhabitants. However, in ten regions, this rate has already risen. Data from three regions are particularly worrying: Kosfeld in North Rhine-Westphalia (52.7), Steinburg in Schleswig-Holstein (62.4), and Greitz in Thuringia (75.4). As a result, Kosfeld postponed the easing of the measures by one week.

What is the reproduction rate?

At the same time, the Robert Koch Institute announced that the infection is transmitted faster in Germany. The reproduction rate has reached 1.1. This ratio shows how many people infect a carrier of the infection. It is statistically calculated and used as an indicator of how fast the disease is spreading. Currently, 10 people transmit the infection to a total of 11 people.

Experts of “Robert Koch” have repeatedly stated that in order to speak about “attenuation”, the reproduction rate must remain below 1. “Due to the increase in this value in the coming days, development must be monitored with very careful, “they say. scientists

In late April, Chancellor Angela Merkel warned that even the slightest changes could have serious consequences. She said that if the rate of reproduction is still 1.1, hospitals will hit their limits in October. And if the coefficient is 1.2, this critical moment will be reached in June or July.

In early March, the reproduction rate was 3. On April 8 – 1.3. And at the beginning of last week it had dropped to 0.9.

Until June 5, it is valid: the reunion of two families is allowed

Since May 8, two families (or members of two households) can be reunited in Germany, and not, as before, only two people from different households. The use of masks in public transport and shops is still mandatory, as well as maintaining a distance of 1.5 meters.

There are currently 171,324 officially registered cases of the new coronavirus in Germany and over 143,000 have been cured. The victims are just over 7,500.

Meanwhile, more and more people in Germany are protesting against the measures imposed due to the new coronavirus. Thousands protested in Stuttgart, Munich, Berlin and other cities on Saturday (May 9). Dozens of protesters were temporarily detained for not complying with the distance rule. Despite the temporary arrests, the police in many places were unable to impose a distance of 1.5 meters between the protesters.
