A specialized freezer, in which the COVID-19 vaccines will be stored, is already on the territory of RHI-Burgas. It has been there for several days, but it turned out that the room in which it should be located does not correspond to its size.
The gate had to be widened and workers were finishing the job this morning.
“The dimensions are quite large – 2 meters high and one meter and 20 meters deep and wide. The door to the room had to be repaired so that the freezer could be inserted. The refrigeration facility will be able to accommodate 175,500 vaccines, like some of vaccines are stored at very low temperatures, “said Dr. Velichka Grigorova, director of” Epidemic Control “at RHI-Burgas.
The freezer in which the Pfizer vaccine will be stored has a capacity of 850 liters. It maintains a temperature of minus 40 to minus 86 degrees.
On the recommendation of the vaccine manufacturer, they can be stored for up to 6 months. The room where the freezer will be installed is video-monitored and security is provided. To begin with, the vaccines will be provided in Burgas, Sliven and Yambol districts.
Vaccination is divided into five phases. The first includes doctors, pharmacists and dentists, people who are on the front lines. There is currently no official information on when the first vaccines will arrive.
Mayor Dimitar Nikolov said that in Burgas there is no decrease in the level of morbidity. A big problem is the lack of doctors in hospitals. Most doctors are sick or quarantined.
The city’s big hypermarkets are initiating inspections due to signs that a lot of people are gathering at the sites. Control will be assumed by the police officers.
