We won’t be alive when the group’s tracks are erased, locals say
Contact the prosecution and seek your rights, the brother of the missing Janek calls his fellow citizens
They are called brothers, but they do not have any blood relationship. Plamen Galev and Angel Hristov are colleagues from the Specialized Counter-Terrorism Detachment and, in the late 1990s, they left the Interior Ministry system and settled in the Dupnitsa village of Resilovo.
Dupnitsa has been without the Galevi brothers for 8 years. And the situation in the city seems to be calm.
There are not frequent beatings, extortion, extortion for commercial transfers, assaults on girls, brutal street scandals. Still
and times
are others – many
different
for 20 years,
when groups were still in fashion. However, the shadows of ex-berets Plamen Galev and Angel Hristov still hang over Dupnitsa and emerge in every criminal incident, which the locals immediately and by an unwritten rule define as mandatory as the work of the “people of Galevi”.
And now, after the disappearance of 43-year-old Yanek Milanov, who has not been traced for 40 days, the suspicions of the inhabitants of Dupnitsa have returned to the “man from Galevi”. Janek was last seen getting into Vasil Kaplanov-Kaplata’s jeep on the night of July 31 and has been missing ever since.
“Kaplanov, where is Janek?”, Is the post on social networks, which has spread for days. Kaplanov was Galevi’s bodyguard and worked under a contract with a company based in Sofia. However, it is said that in recent years he was excommunicated and remained isolated from his group. Kaplanov has now been charged with illegal possession of ammunition, as well as threatening to kill a man who has expressed suspicions on social media that he might be involved in Janek’s disappearance.
A few days ago, Janek’s brother Mario Milanov appealed to the people of Dupnitsa:
“I followed with concern what happened last week, namely Kaplanov’s threat of murder to a Dupnitsa resident who expressed sympathy for Janek’s disappearance.”
We learned that after the intervention of Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Dupnitsa opened the so-called cold cases related to Kaplanov.
I appeal to all of you, but above all to the victims of Kaplanov: you are no longer alone, do not be afraid, go to the prosecutor’s office, tell us and seek your rights. Should
To compose
end of this
feudal fear,
Who governs
in Dupnitsa
during years
Now is the time: the chief prosecutor is personally involved, as he assured me, as he assured you through the media, the prosecution is acting, the Dupnitsa court left Kaplanov in custody, the investigators are still working and Dupnitsa is no longer it’s dark. “
The Galevi brothers are regularly mentioned in all serious criminal cases. Thus, again, albeit indirectly, they “emerged” in 2014, when his confidante Nikolai Radev-Screwdriver was killed in the “Car” restaurant, a meeting place for Galevi.
For a long time he harassed and persecuted the granddaughter of the famous dentist Dr. Vladimir Karastoyanov. In another scandal, she called on her grandfather, father, and uncle to protect her. During the physical altercation, the screwdriver was stabbed in the abdomen. She managed to call her friend Vasil Kaplanov-Kaplata on the phone and literally died in her arms.
Dupnitsa’s long arm of Galevi was also seen in
the strange death
in the main
witness by
the case against them
– businessman Plamen Milanov. He was found dead with his accountant in the company’s office on December 30, 2015. The prosecution explained that the two suffocated and no crime was committed, but the city still does not believe that his death was an accident.
Plamen Galev and Angel Hristov disappeared as soon as they were convicted in early May 2012 and are wanted by Interpol.
Galev received 5 years in prison and Hristov 4 years for leading and participating in an extortion and profit-taking group by instilling fear. The other three in the group, Vladimir Angelov-Stakleto, Apostol Chakalov-Totsi and Georgi Blatski, have long served their 4- and 3 1/2 year sentences in a prison dormitory in Samoranovo and are at large.
“It just came to our knowledge then
in Dupnitsa already
they are not afraid
of the street racket,
But the people of Galevi were refined: they were dedicated to business, to construction. Mutren’s times are over, but now these people have become “honest” entrepreneurs, said former mayor Dr. Plamen Sokolov, who was also one of the main witnesses in the case against Galevi and led the movement “No to fear in Dupnitsa “. He says he is one of the few people who “didn’t sell for 5 cents.” He considers that the state has not intervened categorically to “cleanse the city of this mafia.” He hopes that the arrival of chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev will begin to rid himself of addictions in Dupnitsa.
“I don’t want to think that his arrival was a beating. It would be nice to meet people who would give him” straws “for what is happening in the city. I wonder how he can disappear without a trace, as happened with Janek! We live? Our city is permeated with these people. Dupnitsa remains the same. We will not be alive when the traces of the group are erased, “adds Dr. Sokolov.
He is one of
the few that
Dare to
speak openly
for “the time of
Galevi ”,
but he says he “paid a high price” for it. She only cites one case in which her family miraculously survived: in June 1999, a bomb was thrown at her home.
Other residents of Dupnitsa recall that the Galevi Brothers were members of the advisory council of Mayor Atanas Yanev (2007-2011) and their people worked in the municipality.
Galevi was among the major donors who repaired the city park, invested personal funds to repair churches and schools in the area. Many people in Dupnitsa say they sought financial help and did not turn down money to treat the sick, for example. And now the people of Dupnitsa are divided in their attitude towards the fugitives.
For some they are
robe with a lot
heads that
keep going
send
in the city, although not so publicly and noisily, and for others there are people who have managed to put things in order because the state has not done so.
Certainly Galevi had an “umbrella” from the upper echelons of power, it is also said that although outside the Ministry of the Interior system, they worked for the services. Few people probably know where the fugitives live now. Rumors are “settling” in South Africa, the Seychelles, the Maldives, the United States and Dubai, of course. From DEA agents to entrepreneurs with plastic surgery and a new identity.
And the people of Dupnitsa keep wondering if the Galevi brothers will come back again and if Galevgrad will come back with them.
