The Blagoevgrad municipal crisis headquarters is holding an extraordinary meeting today and the decisions taken impose additional restrictions. In the coming days, weddings, christenings and celebrations of this kind will be limited, Blagoevgrad mayor Rumen Tomov said after the headquarters meeting. The announcements will be renewed under the regulations of the municipality for the fulfillment of the measures. Particular attention will be paid to the market director in the city, where anti-epidemic measures are not observed, said Rumen Tomov.
He told reporters that Blagoevgrad ranks first among the newly infected, but one reason is the fact that most testing is done in the district. However, this does not lessen the situation, Tomov stressed, adding that medical institutions in the Blagoevgrad Territory also report an increase of around 25 percent of those hospitalized with COVID-19. Rumen Tomov noted that in the event of a further increase in the number of patients, more stringent measures will be imposed. However, he urged people to travel freely to and from Blagoevgrad, provided they follow the already established measures.
The municipal mayors introduced additional restrictions in other settlements in the district. At Razlog, outdoor trading is prohibited in the markets for industrial goods, with the exception of agricultural products. In Petrich, events on the municipal cultural calendar, scheduled to take place indoors, are canceled.
