With the implementation of the action, the drug transfer network from Western Europe to Turkey was terminated. 115 kg of ecstasy worth 3.5 million BGN and 4 kg of marijuana, prepared for export to Turkey, were seized.
The detainees are 42, 47, 49 and 50 years old. Three of them, who have already been convicted of drug trafficking, have been arrested in the Trakia neighborhood. The fourth, a Turkish citizen, was captured in a shelter near the city.
“Everyone except one Turk is exposed to crime. The people who participated in the scheme met in prison and after probation organized the trafficking,” said Rumen Popov, district attorney for Plovdiv.
The drugs were destined for the Turkish market. It was transported in pre-prepared caches on truck tires.
“The people were detained shortly before the drugs were hidden and left for Turkey,” Popov added.
