Electricity struck a boy while he was playing basketball. The incident occurred on Friday around 9:30 pm in the village of Mindya in Veliko Tarnovo, Monitor reported.
The 10-year-old girl threw her basketball into a basket mounted under a lamp, which was perched on an old railing. The electric shock shook the boy as he accidentally leaned against the metal fence next to the basket. According to experts, there was probably a short circuit in the electrical network and current also flowed along the fence.
Following the accident, the injured girl was transferred to Gorna Oryahovitsa Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit. Fortunately, her life is not in danger.
That same night the accident was solved and the lamp was removed. It turns out that the railing in question with the lamp and the basketball basket underneath was installed in 2003 at the initiative of the town mayor to have a place for the town’s children to have fun and play sports.
