A 64-year-old man from the village of Choba in Brezovo informed the Rakovski district administration on December 7 that a large sum of money was missing from the bank card to which his salary was transferred. He learned of the theft after refusing to carry out a transaction from an ATM, denounced by the OD of the Interior Ministry – Plovdiv.
Forensic scientists undertook immediate search operations and within one day found the footprints of a 53-year-old woman who moved to Choba a few years ago. The man and the woman worked together in a village herb store.
When the fraud was discovered, the woman admitted the scheme under which she withdrew the money, and the full amount that was missing from the account was found at her home. The case materials were reported to the District Attorney’s Office in Plovdiv, under whose leadership the investigation is being carried out.
The police are calling on older and single people to be vigilant and not trust the people who offer them help to make payments and withdrawals with their debit cards.
Remember that a PIN code written on a sheet placed in the wallet is a guarantee that the moment someone steals it, they will have 100% access to the amount in the account.
