An absurd case of Veliko Tarnovo. A restaurateur who applied for state aid received working capital, which the state took days later without asking for it. The businessman runs a restaurant in front of the Tsarevets fortress and is facing bankruptcy.

Dimitar Daskalov has been in this business for 30 years. He has seen many things, but has not had a case like the COVID-19 pandemic, reports Nova TV.

“We have worked three times in 14 months. You load, then you drop the merchandise, then you load again. Will they open for you or not?” Daskalov commented.

It applied under the 80/20 measure, that is, the state to support it with 20 percent of its billing during the same period last year.

“In the end, they gave us 3,850 BGN. For the first time in my life, someone helped me. I was so pleased. Working capital to cover expenses, because they work here – freezers, not to freeze – heating. I was happy. 3,850 BGN, on January 27, and when I went to pick them up two days later, on the 29th they were taken out of the National Revenue Agency for unpaid insurance. They gave them to me with one hand and they took them with the other, “explains the owner.

The restaurateur has around BGN 20,000 in insurance liabilities accumulated during the pandemic, which should have been rescheduled. The businessman asked the prosecutor who attended him why they had charged the full amount, and not 50 percent, as was the agreement.

The NRA responded to a request from NOVA about the case. They succinctly stated: “We strictly follow the law.”

Now Dimitar Daskalov is trying to accept the problem with a sense of humor.
