A Razgrad District Court panel sentenced a man to 13 years in prison under a strict initial regime for raping a minor. This was announced by the press center of the judicial institution.
The court found the defendant guilty of having committed sexual violence through threats and coercion between December 2, 2010 and the end of June 2011 in Razgrad and the city.
The court panel found the defendant not guilty on the charge that the girl’s suicide attempt continued after the act.
In addition to the effective sentence, he was sentenced to pay BGN 50,000 to the victim for moral damages, plus legal interest, as well as the expenses of his lawyer for BGN 2,000.
The defendant will have to pay a state fee of 2,000 BGN on the respected amount of the civil claim, 1,192 costs of the preliminary proceedings of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior in Razgrad and 1,362 on behalf of the District Court for the costs incurred in the court proceedings.
The sentence is subject to appeal to the Varna Court of Appeal.
