The tourist who died in yesterday’s incident in Stara Planina Todor Zhelyazkov, known in music circles as DJ Emotion, reported Dnes.bg.
“From this peak (Zhaltets), yesterday, January 2, 21, Todor Zhelyazkov, an ambitious and cultured young man from Varna, fell and died, leaving with his friend (Joro) from the hut of Tazha, through the peak of Botev, through the Dobrila hut, to Beklemeto in 2 days. We met at Botev peak. Bordist. Fell into various difficult situations, but survived. A life lived at full speed, at top speeds. And here, at this peak, finds his death. We talked for hours Plamen dissuaded them for hours from making this crazy transition (a transition they would make for the first time), from underestimating the situation and the fact that they did not know the mountain, that they were wearing shoes not suitable for winter and no cats. ” Snezhana Mironova wrote on Facebook.
Snezhana and Plamen’s words apparently failed to dissuade Todor and his partner from their intentions.
Part of the route between Botev Peak and Dobrila Hut, also known as the Stara Planina Alpine Ridge, is extremely complex and dangerous in winter conditions, and its journey requires special alpine skills and equipment.
The fatal accident occurred while descending from Zhaltet Peak. Todor slipped and fell 300 meters down the icy slope.
His death was later established and today rescuers are trying to remove his body, along with three other rescued tourists.
The native musicians are already expressing their condolences to the relatives of the deceased DJ.
