A Sofia police officer remained on the street after a fire ripped through his manor house.

The incident took place in the village of Chepintsi in Sofia. The fire originated from a short circuit. The man is an employee of the Sofia Security Police. Today there is nothing but the overalls he was wearing.

“Around 01:00 on the night of September 16-17, while I was at work, my wife called and said the house was on fire. She smelled smoke and realized that the fire had been caused by a short circuit, “Ivaylo Yordanov told Nova TV.

“Apart from her, my brother and his family were in the house at that time. They called 112. My brother tried to put out the fire, but was unsuccessful,” he added.

According to him, the fire brigade arrived relatively quickly. However, despite the efforts of firefighters, the fire spread and the house burned to the ground.

“I have no other home. This is a property inherited from my father. Unfortunately, the house has no insurance,” adds Ivaylo Yordanov.

His colleagues are already raising money to help him. “I am very grateful to them. According to very rough estimates, we will need about BGN 30,000,” said the policeman.
