The president of the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union, Asena Serbezova, has a new position in connection with her interviews at BNR and BNT during the state of emergency. Because of his warnings about potential drug problems The Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation against him for causing panic and anxiety among citizens during a pandemic, BNR reported.

The investigation against Serbezova dates back to the first weeks of the state of emergency. It ended with a motion to acquit her and impose only one fine for her clean criminal record.

On September 14, a panel at the Sofia District Court ruled that the accusation brought against her under a language almost not used by the Penal Code was unclear and that violations had been committed in the pre-trial process., which limited his right to defense and dismissed the case.

The new charge is the old one, but detailed, for “hoax alarms.”

The case is about to go back to court, and in the meantime, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has registered Asena Serbezova’s appeal against the actions of the Bulgarian prosecutor’s office.
