The daughter of a deceased elderly man from Pleven says that due to a still unpublished PCR test for COVID-19, her father was not admitted to Pleven University Hospital, with the explanation that there were no free beds. They responded that this was impossible and that they would investigate the case, BNT reported.
Ralitsa Okova said that her father had the first symptoms early last week. On October 16, the man’s condition began to deteriorate and he sought medical attention. They took an X-ray and prescribed an antibiotic.
However, on Sunday morning he was also out of breath, lost his taste and smell. He was taken by ambulance to Pleven University Hospital, where, according to documents, he was examined by a pulmonologist.
“After that, around 1 o’clock, I can’t say exactly, they called me to the lobby. They explained that they would discard it. To which I was absolutely opposed, I said that I was sick, that I could not breathe and that they did not explain to me that They had put him on Urbazon, he had an oxygen mask and he should be better now, ”said Ralitsa Okova.
The hospital explained to Ralitsa that they had taken a sample from her father for a PCR test and had to wait for the result.
“We are discharging him because there are no places in the room where COVID-19 patients are in question. 8.20 And if there is a result tomorrow and it is positive, they could admit it to the Infectious Diseases Room,” said Ralitsa Okova.
They took him home by ambulance, but the man was already having difficulty moving. As he climbed the steps of the block, on the second floor he lost his strength and fell. They immediately called another ambulance because there was no resuscitation team or stretcher on it. Meanwhile, the ambulance doctor gave him a heart massage, but he died.
“Greetings to the lands of the Bulgarian doctors. I think the system has tied their hands here. I don’t know exactly. I want the truth,” Ralitsa Okova said.
Pleven hospital said there was no case of an emergency person being returned, but they would verify it on Monday. Ralitsa Okova has already hired a lawyer.
