A 34-year-old man beat a 3-year-old boy in Sofia. The violence took place Wednesday in an apartment in the Lyulin neighborhood, the prosecutor’s office said. The abuser was detained for 72 hours and prosecuted.

The Sofia District Attorney’s Office prosecuted and detained a defendant for up to 72 hours who caused minor bodily injury to a 3-year-old boy.
Defendant SR, 34, was detained for up to 72 hours by decree of a supervising prosecutor of the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office. He was presented as a defendant for a crime under art. 131, para. 1, item 9, supra art. 130, para. 1 of the Penal Code.
SR is charged that on 02.12.2020, around 3 pm in a house in k. “Lyulin”, Sofia, when hitting the head and body of the 3-year-old NB, caused him injuries that caused a “temporary health disorder that was not life-threatening”. The act was committed with special cruelty towards the minor NB, without the possibility of defending himself, since by inflicting the SR blows on him he caused three separate minor bodily injuries.
The crime for which SR was charged has been punished with up to three years in prison.
Given the high public danger of the act, on December 3, 2020, a prosecutor from the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office ordered the detention of SR for up to 72 hours. Tomorrow, December 5, 2020, an application will be prepared and submitted to the Sofia District Court for a restraining measure “detention in custody” with respect to the accused.
