A hurricane-force wind blew the roofs off two houses, flooded basements and cut power to Smolyan and the region, BNT reported.

There are many fallen trees and stones on the roads.

Rositsa Kancheva, a victim of the storm, said she and her husband had just left when the hurricane started. Neighbors told them that the roof of their house was destroyed. “When my husband and I arrived, we saw that everything was destroyed. We have dropped things in the garden, ”he explained.

Chief Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov explained that more than 50 signals had been received, mostly about fallen trees, flooded basements, the two roofs in Smolyan and a rock collapse.

“At the moment, we have no signs of landslides that could threaten settlements or critical infrastructure. We continue to closely monitor the situation, including the levels of the largest rivers,” he explained.

Zlatograd, Kardzhali and Haskovo were also affected by the storm, Nikolov added.

Haskovo Municipality has received 11 citizen signals for flooded streets in the lower part of the city. Many trees and branches were broken by the strong wind. The basements of the old OSO building have been flooded. Warehouses in the old “Wholesale” on “Saedinenie” Blvd. are also flooded.
