Massive heart attack is the cause of death of the 76-year-old man from Pleven, who according to his relatives was returned from the University Hospital with symptoms of COVID-19. This was demonstrated by the inspection of the case in the hospital emergency department. The day after his death, the patient’s positive PCR test was published, BNT reports.

On Sunday October 18, Todor Peshev felt unwell after receiving symptoms of COVID infection a week earlier. His daughter said he was taken by ambulance to the emergency department at Dr. Georg Stranski University Hospital, where he was examined by a pulmonologist, but then he was taken home in another ambulance to await the result of the PCR test.

The man died on the stairs while climbing home. After reviewing the case, the hospital claimed that Todor Peshev had not been without a doctor all day, but he was not admitted to the infectious diseases department because his test had not been confirmed.

“He was admitted with moderate pneumonia, fever, cough and shortness of breath. They gave him treatment, to which he responded. He felt better and the doctors decided not to send him to this triage, where there are really people in very bad condition. There is no way of knowing what Mr. Peshev will have a heart attack an hour later. His ECG was clean, everything was clean, he just had a heart attack on the stairs. My condolences to this wonderful family, but all the time there were doctors around him, he was not left without a doctor, “explained Momchil Tsvetkov from” Public Relations “at Pleven University Hospital.

The relatives of the deceased denounced the Executive Agency for Medical Supervision and confirmed that they would sue the hospital.
