The Anti-Corruption Commission fined the mayor of Strazhitsa, Rumen Pavlov, BGN 15,000 for a conflict of interest. The proceedings against him are based on a sign that he provided material benefits to his brother and daughter with municipal money.

An inspection by the Anti-Corruption Commission found that in 2008 Rumen Pavlov bought a municipal building in Strazhitsa through a public auction, which he converted into a hotel. After becoming mayor, he first handed it over to his brother for free, and since last February, on a contract, the hotel has been temporarily awarded to the company, owned by the mayor’s daughter.

It was also established that from the municipal budget, in favor of the two merchants, money was transferred for the delivery of fuel, lunches, dinners, cocktails and hotel nights. This is BGN 53,350.

According to the Anti-Corruption Commission, the fact that he has given companies money for his brother and daughter has put Rumen Pavlov in a conflict of interest. In addition to imposing a fine, the Commission ordered that this amount be confiscated in favor of the State.

This is the second signal against the Mayor of Strazhitsa to the Anti-Corruption Commission.

In February, he was fined BGN 60,000, again for favoring his brother.
