Slovak authorities have restricted the movement of citizens for the next three weeks due to the accelerating spread of the coronavirus. This was announced by Slovak Radio, quoted by BTA.
During the term of the restrictions, Slovaks will be able to leave their homes only to go to work and the doctor, buy food, walk pets and in other emergencies. The police were ordered to monitor compliance with the measures. Violators will be fined.
The strictest restrictions are in effect until November 1. This is due to the coronavirus population tests that began in Slovakia. Earlier, Prime Minister Igor Matovic said it was necessary “to limit social contacts as much as possible so as not to infect the citizens before this very important procedure.”
The stricter movement ban has been introduced until November 1 in areas where the epidemic situation is of greatest concern to doctors. These are the area of the cities of Bardejov (Northeast Slovakia), Dolni Kubin, Tvardoshin and Namestovo (North Slovakia). Only those who have a negative test for coronavirus, received no later than October 23, can leave their home there. They are allowed to travel to work and walk for a short time. Other citizens will be allowed to go out only in exceptional cases: go to the nearest grocery store, receive emergency medical attention, or walk their pets within 100 meters of their permanent address.
