Bulgarian handball player Veselka Nenkova Kalakunova has died at the age of 30 in Spain, reports the Spanish media eldia.es.

He was born on April 9, 1990 in Karlovo. She was a player for the “Salud Terrenife” team from 2008 to 2017.

Kalakunova died of a brain tumor, which was discovered a second time after having been successfully operated on.

Since August 7, 2016, Kalakunova has been battling cancer, then suffered from facial paralysis and epileptic seizures. The hospital found he had a fist-sized tumor, which turned out to be malignant. He underwent brain surgery and even managed to return to the field.

Last November, he was again diagnosed with a brain tumor, this time fatal.
