Former Ugandan national boxing captain Isaac Zebra Senyange was shot and killed at his home in Bweis, a suburb of the capital Kampala. The tragedy happened tonight in front of his wife, after armed men broke into his house and killed the 39-year-old boxer. The victim’s wife said she did not know the people who shot her husband.
“There was a knock on the door and when he opened it, they shot him several times and then fled,” Mercy Senyange said.

The killers are on the run and their motive is unknown. The police have launched an investigation into Senyang’s death.
The former middleweight champion was known by the nickname Mando. He will be best remembered for captaining Team Uganda during the 10th African Games in Maputo, Mozambique in 2011.

In his 15-year amateur career, Isaac Zebra Senyange recorded 195 wins and 19 losses before turning pro in 2012.
He had a club where he trained children and also worked for the Uganda Boxing Federation. After his death, his son Isaac Senyange Jr. was left half an orphan.
