The US House of Representatives passed a large majority on the US defense budget bill, which President Donald Trump has said he will veto, Reuters reports.

The budget amounted to 740 billion dollars and was approved by 335 votes to 78 against. That difference is enough to override Trump’s promised veto, according to BTA.

The legislation is expected to be approved by the Senate in the next few days.

One of the measures that Trump has criticized is renaming the military bases after Confederate generals. However, this is supported by both the lower house, in which Democrats have a majority, and the Senate, which is controlled by Republicans. Trump is also not happy that the bill does not provide for the repeal of section 230 of the communications ethics law, which protects companies like Alphabet, Twitter and Facebook from lawsuits for content posted on their platforms.

The draft budget also contains text to expand sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 and Turkish Stream gas pipelines, TASS reported.

The project also approved an initiative to impose sanctions on Turkey for the purchase of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems. No later than 30 days after the budget law takes effect, the president must impose five or more restrictive measures on anyone knowingly involved in the acquisition of the S-400 systems, according to the document.
