A 33-year-old man with COVID-19 passed away yesterday after waiting for hours for an ambulance in Sofia. The man was in home treatment, but it got worse.
His relatives called around 6.30 pm to request an ambulance, which did not arrive. They also called a private ambulance, where they were told that they had to find a place in a hospital and that they would transport the patient.
Around 10:30 p.m., the ambulance that arrived found the young man dead.
The ambulance in Sofia commented to bTV that sadly this has been going on for weeks.
“The last work shift has 418 calls, 200 of which are signs of coronavirus. After each direction, the ambulance is collected and disinfected in 50-60 minutes. It is absolutely impossible to handle,” said the spokeswoman for the Emergency Service. , Katya Sungarska.
