A 27-year-old man tried to pass through “Kapitan Andreevo” with 9 kg of marijuana

On September 16, 2020, around 11 a.m., a car driven by a 27-year-old Bulgarian citizen arrived at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint. The man was traveling alone in the car in the direction of Bulgaria to Turkey.

The car was selected for a thorough customs inspection. With the help of X-ray equipment and subsequent physical control, in a factory cavity between the upholstery and the roof of the car, agents found 26 plastic bags. They contained a mass of green grass that reacted to marijuana in a field drug test. The narcotic substance has a total gross weight of 9,240 kg and is worth BGN 36,960.

By decree of the supervising prosecutor, the accused was detained for a period of 72 hours. Today, the Haskovo District Prosecutor’s Office will submit a request to the court to determine a restraining measure “detention in custody” against the detainee. The investigation of the case continues.
