Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison continues to pay wages and bonuses to his employees assigned to his Hawaiian island, Business Insider reports.

Allison’s wealth, according to the latest figures, is $ 58.6 billion.

Lanai is the sixth largest island in Hawaii, with 3,200 people currently living there. The founder of Oracle acquired it in 2012 for the sum of $ 300 million.

The island was once known as the “Pineapple Island” because it produced 75% of all pineapples in the world.

Today there are mostly sporting events, including beach volleyball, climbing, golf, surfing, and more. Lanai has three hotels, two of which belong to the Four Seasons Resorts chain.

Allison owns almost everything in Lanai: hotels, supermarkets and 1/3 of all the properties in it. It is currently in talks to buy even the island’s electricity grid.

The Mayor of Maui, to whom Lanai also belongs, recently thanked Larry Ellison for caring for the people of the island.

COVID-19 has ruined Hawaii. They are no longer what they wereSome people just can’t stand the airline deals they currently offer

“Right now, everyone gets their full wages. The billionaire also cut or cut rents for all companies during the pandemic.

A spokesperson for Pulama Lanai, the company that administers the island’s administration, declined to say how much of Lanai’s 3,200 residents work for Allison.

Today, the three hotels on the island are temporarily closed. The beaches closed on April 17 and restaurants accept orders only with home delivery.

According to the latest Lanai data, there is only one resident who tested positive for COVID-19.

In the past 8 years, Ellison has invested $ 41 million in the construction of additional guest houses in Lanai. He also acquired the two airlines that flew to him, but then sold one of them.
