The new coronavirus kills more people in the poorer neighborhoods of England and Wales, and COVID-19 deaths among ethnic minorities are higher than among white Britons. Two separate studies published today show this, France Press and BTA reported.

One is from the UK National Statistical Office, which has surveyed more than 20,000 deathsrelated to COVID-19 and occurred between March 1 and April 17 in England and Wales.

The Office found that there were 55.1 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants in the most disadvantaged areas. In comparison, in areas that are not so poor, there are 25.3 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.

Disadvantaged areas are neighborhoods marked with high unemployment and crime and more difficult access to health care than other neighborhoods.

It is one of the most affected areas. the capital city of London with 85.7 deaths for every 100,000 inhabitants, while the south-west of England is the least affected area.

Another study by the London-based Institute for Tax Studies shows that the number of deaths among The population of color and the representatives of minorities. it is higher than that of whites, in part because these people are in jobs that put them at greater risk of contracting the virus.

According to this study, for example, coronavirus deaths among people born in the Caribbean and living in England are three more times compared to white Brits.

The report also said that far more Pakistani men work in British health care than British white men. Indians, although they represent only 3 percent of the working-age population of England and Wales, account for 14 percent of physicians there

Other health problems may also be a factor in the high mortality rate in minorities. For example, two-thirds of people born in Bangladesh over the age of 60 have a long-term illness, which could put them at particular risk in the event of a coronavirus infection.
