IKP “Rodina” – the meaningless symbol of social journalism

New owner of 56 decares land near Constantinople Road – East Plaza Invest wants to do something beautiful for Sofia

An international company is exploring the possibilities of ownership and will provide options.

Oh• From March 29 to April 2, 1976, the XI BCP Congress is held in Sofia. Its motto is “Efficiency and quality, quality and efficiency!”.

He was a freshman journalism student, but he was already a contributor to Look. I remember that after the congress there was talk of how a new printing shop would be built in the eighth kilometer, the most modern in Europe, the last word of technology.

And with it an impressive building will be built, which will become the home of all the offices in the capital. The publishing and printing complex (IPC) will be called “Homeland” and will be a symbol of the struggle of socialist journalism.

It was said that underneath the three-story building of the print shop there would be two underground levels for garages and even a swimming pool. And in the editorial building: more than 600 rooms. Gathered in them, the journalistic fraternity will join forces against imperialism and will illuminate the successes of socialism.

Then the newspapers were 5-6: “Workers’ Affairs”, “Agricultural Cartel”, “Popular Youth”, “Work”, “Front of the Fatherland”, “Cooperative Village”, etc.

Only Bulgaria and Albania did not have sports on a daily basis: the sport came out 3 times, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

There were several weekly magazines: Glance, Antenas, Hornets, Hornets, Start, Literary Front, Pulse, monthly magazines like Cosmos, Woman Today, various issues for the younger generation. Wife “,” Slaveyche “,” Septemvriyche “,” High School Banner “…

And many departmental newspapers – there was no industry without multiplicity – “Forestry”, “Rudnichar”, “Technical case”, “Voice of transport”, “166” (in the Interior Ministry) and more, and more …

There was no way all this journalistic diversity could fit into the two buildings, although one had to be on 17 floors and the other on 9. But the author of the IPK idea might have known how to do it. Do not doubt that this idea has been discussed at the highest level: the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

Comrades there

Know that

the means are

extremely

an important factor: “a collective agitator, propagandist and organizer in the construction of socialism and communism”. This in college was getting into our heads like a mantra from Prof. Stefan Stanchev.

I suspect that both editions had to have the main editions collected. And when they are in one place, control over them is easier and more secure. This and the creative clubs of the then intelligentsia (filmmakers, writers, architects, journalists) were intended for supervision and control. But this is another topic.

Building

CPI “Rodina”

started somewhere

in 1980 when our graduation graduated. In 1987, the printing shop was completed, but not both publishing buildings. The restructuring has already begun, the new strongman in the Kremlin, Mikhail Gorbachev, has drastically reduced free blessings to Bulgaria and the country has gone into debt. And the construction of the CPI “Rodina” froze.

Only printing began. After 1989, many newspapers started to come out and were printed because it was really modern in its day. In April 1991, the first issue of “24 hours” came out. The newspaper that changed Bulgarian journalism and journalism.

In 2001, under the direction of the UDF, Prime Minister Ivan Kostov announced a tender for the sale of the “frozen IPK” with a starting price of BGN 7 million. The business showed no interest in the building and the site. A new tender was announced in 2003. It was won by a consortium United Bulgarian Newspapers, which acquires 51% of the company’s shares with a bid of BGN 6 million. The newspapers Monitor, Novinar, Duma, Meridian Match, Banker and Look have shares in the consortium.

Under the leadership of the Triple Coalition (2005-2009), it was decided to demolish the unfinished PAC and instead build a building to house the NRA (National Revenue Agency). The idea is to do this through real estate exchanges. The NRA grants the United Bulgarian Newspapers consortium its three buildings in the center of Sofia, opposite the future large 8-kilometer building. After repeated discussions and criticism, the exchange option failed.

The next idea is to build the ugly skeleton of the IPC with money from the World Bank. A tender has been announced, but it turns out that the money will not be enough. In 2012, businesswoman Irena Krasteva bought the Rodina IPC and the land around it.

On July 18, 2018, 24 Hours announces that the owner of the largest hospital chain in Bulgaria

Dr. Michael Tikov

purchase

unfinished

building

on Tsarigradsko shose Blvd. BGN 40 million was paid for the 56 acres. The purchase was made through the East Plaza Invest company of Dr. Tikov and his family. “This is an interesting property in an important part of Sofia. We have not yet fully decided, the analysis of the condition of the property is yet to come, but the goals are investment. Among other things, the property is close to our main clinic “said Dr. Mihail Tikov within 24 hours.

Hours before the explosion of “Rodina” IPC on Sunday, Nikolay Mitov, manager of East Plaza Invest, explains that an international company has been entrusted to investigate real estate opportunities and analyze the property market in Bulgaria, after which to offer options

“We want to make the best possible project and something beautiful for the city. When we are ready, we will present all the projects that we will implement,” explained Nikolay Mitov.

Collapsed in seconds

Within seconds, a 17-story IPC “Rodina” building in Sofia disappeared in a controlled explosion on Sunday after 9:30 am. Directorate for Assistance and Emergency Prevention Krasimir Dimitrov. The police and the municipality have provided security to the surrounding people and buildings.
