Toyota and its luxury brand Lexus have announced that they are preparing to phase out eight-cylinder engines, The Drive reports. Under the plan, the latest V8 from the Japanese company will be installed in 2023.
Toyota currently produces eight-cylinder engines at two of its plants in Huntsville, USA. USA, and Tahara, Japan. The Alabama plant will suspend V8 deliveries for Tundra and Sequoia ATVs for the next 12-18 months.
In Japan, production of eight series of Land Cruiser and Lexus models will last until 2023.
