These elections will be the most expensive due to the additional costs of vaccines for the electoral administration and for the voting machine. This was commented by the prime minister and leader of the GERB, Boyko Borissov, who voted this morning in Bankya. According to him, the money, around BGN 150 million, could be used more rationally, for example to increase pensions and income. Then he responded to those who, in his opinion, said “let’s go from election to election.”

We led the most tolerant campaign, we did not offend anyone, we showed what we had done, Borissov said. He stressed that he had received great support from his colleagues, Prime Ministers of Europe. He added that it is important for Bulgaria to continue governing itself in a European and stable way. According to Borissov, the most important support for Bulgaria is the European Commission’s decision on Friday to award 1.2 million additional Pfizer vaccines in solidarity.

The Prime Minister thanked the police, the electoral administration, who worked all night and continue to do so. He also addressed his political opponents: “You cannot have a small percentage and want to speak on behalf of the people. And vice versa.”

Let us respond to the bad with good today and be positive, Borissov commented on the fact that President Rumen Radev has scheduled the elections for today, when Catholics celebrate Easter.

For the first time, a prime minister votes without inviting journalists. The time for Borisov’s vote was announced neither by the administration of the Council of Ministers nor by the party’s press center. He spoke in front of the camera of his associates and thus once again avoided journalistic questions.
