Online commerce giant Amazon has apologized to a US congressman for denying the existence of a practice in which employees are forced to urinate in plastic bottles, world agencies reported.

The controversy came last week with a tweet from House Democrat Mark Pocan, a representative from the state of Wisconsin. He accused Amazon of forcing employees to urinate in plastic bottles and said that just because the giant paid $ 15 an hour did not mean it was progressive work.
A response then appeared on an official Amazon account, stating that if the claim about urinating in a bottle was true, no one would work for the company.
But many media outlets quoted employees as saying about such a practice. And the Intersep media even said they had obtained internal documents showing that company executives were aware of the practice. According to the employees, they did not have time to go to the bathroom due to the work rhythm imposed by Amazon.
Following these revelations, the company apologized to the congressman. He said that in its previous response, the company did not take into account the case of Amazon drivers, but only the employees of the company’s centers, who could go to the bathrooms that they had at their disposal there at any time. The company said the controller problem was old and was looking for a way to solve it.
The congressman, for whom he apologized, said Amazon did not treat its employees with enough respect. “Start acknowledging the inappropriate working conditions you create for ALL of your employees,” he tweeted to Amazon.
