Bulgaria will receive more than 1.2 million additional Pfizer vaccines. This was due to two weeks of very difficult negotiations between the Member States. As a result of the Prime Minister’s intransigence, the national interest was protected. This means that in the next 3 months you will receive 1,200,000 doses of RNA-only vaccines. They are part of the 10 million for which the EC has signed an accelerated delivery contract. The rest will be delivered in the fourth quarter. This was said in a briefing by the head of the Medicines Agency, Bogdan Kirilov. With him at the briefing is the head of “Pirogov” Prof. Asen Baltov.
“The main quantities in the coming months will be the RNA vaccines against the coronavirus, so people will have a choice,” said the director of the Executive Agency for Medicines.
“500,000 vaccines have already been administered. There is a provision to administer 20,000 doses a day,” said Pirogov director Professor Asen Baltov.
According to him, next week he will propose to include in immunization and people in the fourth phase: the elderly and the chronically ill.
This will allow 50% of those vaccinated in June.
“The main reason we have to get support from other European countries regarding vaccines is the delay in the supply of AstraZeneca,” Kirilov said.
