Outrageous. On the day of reflection, which marks the 145th anniversary of the election of Sofia as the capital of Bulgaria, the largest city in our country said goodbye to its emblematic old building.
The non-governmental organization “Save Sofia” alerted through its Facebook page that today some excavators destroyed the house of the writer Dimitar Dimov, author of the novels “Tabaco”, “Condemned souls”, “Lieutenant Benz” and others.
According to one project, two new buildings will appear in their place. The people of the area protested vigorously against the project, but it is already being implemented, and the home in Sofia of one of the greatest Bulgarian writers is already in history. According to the Ministry of Culture, “it does not have the status of an immovable cultural asset within the meaning of the Cultural Heritage Law.”
Save Sofia proposes that the street on which the house was built and which also bears the writer’s name be renamed “Another five-story building”.
The trees in the yard have already been felled and permission has been obtained.
According to the Ministry of Culture, the house does not have the status of an immovable cultural asset within the meaning of the Cultural Heritage Law.
