Bulgaria once again won a gold medal at the European Men’s and Women’s Weightlifting Championships, something that had not happened since 2013. Milka Maneva won the Old Continent title for the last time.

The new European champion is Nadezhda Mei-Nguyen, 20, who won the title with a 155kg fight. The representative of the strong Ruse school with coaches Krastina and Radoslav Atanasovi made three successful attempts to throw with 67, 70 and 72 kg, which won the move.

The Bulgarian victory in the lighter today in Moscow was complemented by our other representative. Ivana Petrova finished with silver after picking up 152 kg. At 67 kg she was fourth in the throw, but at 85 kg she won the push, which secured her silver in the final classification. Petrova is from the school in Targovishte with coach Ivan Paskalev and is the European Women’s Runner-up Batumi 2019 in cat 45 kg, in addition to twice winning gold at the Pristina 2017 and Milan 2018 Women’s European Championships.

In today’s second category, up to 49 kg for women, we had no competitor, and tomorrow on the podium in Moscow will be three of ours: European runner-up Angel Rusev (55 kg), Maya Ivanova (55 kg) and gold medalist continental in youth Stilyan Grozdev (61 kg)).
