The coronavirus tonight killed the engineer Stefan Velev, journalist, publicist and director of BNT programs during the time of Ivan Slavkov in the period between 1970 and 1978. The sad news was announced by his relatives on social networks. Velev died at the age of 83.
He was a journalist with more than 60 years of experience in various media, theater and opera. Founder and first general secretary of the Association of Balkan News Agencies and honorary citizen of Ohrid.
He was the main coordinator of the Theater of Nations in Sofia and the International Children’s Assembly, participated in the construction of the National Palace of Culture, in the restoration of the National Theater and the House of Culture in Plovdiv.
Stefan Velev worked at BNT when television affirmed its leading role in the Bulgarian information space. In his impressive career he has 15,000 working days in Bulgarian newspapers, radio and television.
“These thousands of days were not easy, but in each of them we are still good, honest and close people!” Said Stefan Velev three years ago, when he celebrated his 80th anniversary.
A year ago, Stefan Velev published the book “Sunrise before midnight. Ah, this television”, in which he talks about the construction and development of BNT.
