Law enforcement officers and the suspect were taken to the hospital
Two police officers were injured in an incident near the Capitol, Reuters reports. They were taken to a hospital, where one of them died. The United States Congress building is closed. Police teams have been dispatched to the scene.

After the collision, the attacker got out of the car and attacked the police with a knife. He was shot and died in the hospital. Police said in the first minutes after the attack that so far they have no evidence that the attack was a terrorist attack, but they do not rule out the investigation to reach such conclusions. The status of the second wounded police officer is unclear.
In a briefing, the police said they considered the attack to be over. The Capitol security regime remains unchanged.
